Past Players and those retired from the game
This is a crowd collaborated project born from an idea I had when thinking about growing up with the love of football - I think about it every day and it's a big part of my life. Like many of you, I'm a fan and a supporter. Growing up in the '70s and '80s black players were but a few in the professional game, but those who made it had to be extra special. I looked up to those guys. They made me feel proud of the skin I was born in when some of the people around me tried to do the exact opposite. This site is a tribute to those guys.
Black British Defenders
A talented list of players, which is still a work in progress as names are being unearthed on a daily basis. Some of the most successful players in British Football history were black British defenders.
Black British Midfielders
A really tough position to hold down and make your own in the British game, even more so as a black player in the '70s and '80s. Some of these players proved that black players were not just pace and strength, they were also the heartbeat and the engine of their teams.

This is an area of the pitch where Black British players have excelled. When managers and commentators raved about these players' strength and pace, we saw skill, creativity and intelligence.
Who We Are
ITHINKFOOTBALL was founded in 2009 as a place for fans, both old and new, to come together and share their passion and excitement. We struggled to find a strong enough angle to stand out in the heavily financed and crowded football fan world, until now. This is something that matters now more than ever, a place to celebrate the legacy of those who have brought so much to the game.
